In more than two and a half generations MARVIN KATZEN has
lived through perhaps the most vital time in the history of Charleston, South Carolina. He has seen his
quiet town of the 1950's, with a three month tourist season, grow to be the third most visited destination in The United States, behind San
Francisco, California and New Orleans, Louisiana (according to Conde' Nast Traveler Magazine). Not too
shabby for a small city of 100,000 residents that accommodates nearly four million visitors every year.
The most common question Marvin gets from his guests is "Where are you from?"
And you will be surprised to find out how close to home he really starts his tour.
 Marvin attended both
local private and
public primary schools, and graduated The High School of Charleston. He
attended Clemson University for two years transferring to The
University of Georgia where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The Henry Grady School of Journalism.
His extra curricular activities included serving as Photographic Editor,
'The Red & Black',
University of Georgia Student Newspaper. During seven years of duty in The United States Army Reserve,
Marvin attended and received diplomas of recognition from the Defense Information School
Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana.
Marvin's work experience through the years includes Reporting TV news at WXEX-TV, Richmond, Virginia.
Editor of 80th Division (training) newspaper. While attending Trident Technical College in the mid 1980's for
computer programming he was accepted into Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society Of Community and Junior Colleges.
And selected to Who's Who Among Students at American Junior Colleges
for his achievements there.
More than 15 years of experience on stage with
local theater companies in Charleston provides the polish with which
Marvin presents his tour to his guests.
Add all this experience to a program enhanced with onboard video images, stories set to music,
faces of people who made our history, and the hundreds of beautiful buildings you see from the
bus. Marvin's greatest joy is giving you the pleasure of a wonderful tour of Charleston truly filled
with humor, charm, and drama. |
