In more than three generations MARVIN KATZEN has lived through perhaps the most vital time in the history of Charleston, South Carolina. He has seen his quiet town of the 1950's, with a three month tourist season, grow to be the third most visited destination in The United States, behind San Francisco, California and New York City (according to Conde' Nast Traveler Magazine). Not too shabby for a small city of 100,000 residents that accommodates nearly four million visitors every year.

The most common question Marvin gets from his guests is "Where are you from?" And you will be surprised to find out how close to home he really starts his tour.

Marvin attended both local private and public primary schools, and graduated The High School of Charleston. He left Charleston, SC to attend Clemson University for two years before transferring to The University of Georgia where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The Henry Grady School of Journalism. His extra curricular activities included serving as Photographic Editor, 'The Red & Black', University of Georgia Student Newspaper. During seven years of duty in The United States Army Reserve, Marvin attended and received diplomas of recognition from the Defense Information School Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana.

Marvin's work experience through the years includes Reporting TV news at WXEX-TV, Richmond, Virginia. Editor of 80th Division (training) newspaper. While attending Trident Technical College in Charleston, SC in the mid 1980's for computer programming he was accepted into Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society Of Community and Junior Colleges.

And selected to Who's Who Among Students at American Junior Colleges for his achievements there.

More than 20 years of experience on stage with local theater companies in Charleston, South Carolina provides the polish with which Marvin presents his tour of historic downtown Charleston to his guests.

Add all this and 20 years as a Charleston tour guide to a program enhanced with onboard video images, stories set to music, faces of people who have made Charleston, SC's history, and the hundreds of beautiful buildings you see from the bus. Marvin's greatest joy is giving you the pleasure of a wonderful tour of historic downtown Charleston truly filled with humor, charm, and drama.
